Interview with Designer: Jenny Widing
What was it like for you growing up in a small town?
For me growing up in a small town was not very easy, you have to be (or at least pretend) to be cool and made of steel, you have to be mean to avoid getting picked on.
What inspires you?
My inspiration comes from Stockholms beautiful people, MK Olsen, blogs and Magazines.
How would you describe your style?
I LOVE the 70's glam. Leopard, silky materials with no bra, glitter and pearls. I mix this with todays fashion, right now the 90's style as techno stuff, neon and plastic. Batik is my obsession right now 70's and 90's at the same time.
What do you want to express to your customer through your clothes?
My customers are very up to date and are not afraid to stand out. They complete their outfit with the little extra piece from Jenny Widing.
Most importantly where can we buy them?
How did your life in New York inspire your style?
I got a bit confused when I came to New York, I was so colourful and everyone was so black and dark. It was just to go along, I fell in to where I had been before my most colourful, miss match period. Back to Black.
What do you think about Swedish Fashion and how does it compare to New York?
If you compare the fashionable people they are very much the same, but the average Swede is more trendy than the American. Almost all the girls in Stockholm are very updated with what to wear and what not to wear!
What are 5 songs you most recently played on your IPod?
Little Dragon, The XX, Kings Of Leon, Broken Bells, the rest is technomusic.
Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?
I hope that my webbsite/shop is going well and I have a real store..
